Claude and Louise

In 2000 my wife and I moved to Kingston for work purposes. We did not know the area very well and we were looking for a home. We moved several times during our careers and had a variety of experiences, to say the least, with real estate and real estate agents. Suffice to say that, as a result we felt we were just another ‘business’ for the people we dealt with in the past and were not expecting anything different this time around.
We stopped at a real estate company and no one was available at that time; it was too early in the morning. A gentleman walking by the front desk, welcomed us with warmth and genuiness and inquired about us, where we were from? When we arrived? What brought us to Kingston, etc. He noticed our French accent, offered us to sit down and asked us how we took our coffee. We talk for half an hour without talking home. We right away felt the difference between being an ‘other business’ and being welcome buy someone who cared about us as individuals and as a family.
Mr. Hartzman was his name. As he introduced himself he pointed out the beauties of Kingston and brought to our attention the historical value of the city. He finally invited us to come back if we needed more information. At this time ‘we’ told him we were looking for a home. The dialogue that followed was focusing on needs and interests but also on the reality and importance of our mutual roles in being a team purchasing a home. Once the expectations were established he acted literally as a guide and consultant and we always felt we were in the driver’s seat so to speak. We bought a lovely home we kept for 12 years.
Time flies, children are on their own now and we decided to look for our retirement home. Guess what? We contacted Mr. Hartzman! We sold our house in seven days and purchased a new one in few weeks. As usual, Mr. Hartzman provided us with top quality service and assisted us in every single aspect of the selling and purchasing.
This is the type of gentleman Mr. Hartzman is. He is an ally. We know he is on our side and, at every step of the way, he constantly demonstrates his unconditional support towards our preferences and decisions. He handles our impatience with grace and respect. He is an advocate. When purchasing a home we found out that the devil could be in the small details but Mr Hartzman looks after them, speaks on our behalf and will not compromise on the relationship he has with his clients to support us. He is honest and our dialogues are respectful yet always geared towards our best interest which could be, at times, clouded by inexperience or superficial emotional dreams. He is trustworthy. Suffice to say that we feel Mr. Hartzman is buying the house with us… and he will not leave any stones unturned. He is competent. He has experience and knows his way through the complexity of the real estate business.
For many, he is Michael. For us, he is Mr. Hartzman!
